Highway is part of the same allelic complex as Cappuccino and Sable, meaning it is a variation at the same genetic locus rather than a completely separate gene. In its single form, Highway can look very similar to Sable and is often difficult to distinguish without lineage.
 
It tends to act as a pattern reducing trait, muting the base color while sharpening contrast and structure. You will typically notice darker overall tones, a darkened tail with subtle lateral striping, and cleaner, brighter dorsal striping that often pushes up into the head crests. It gives geckos a bold, refined look with strong structure and high contrast that continues to develop with age
